Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Moshi and Transfer to the Mweka Gate
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Here, you will meet your guide, who will provide a briefing on the upcoming trek and conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the necessary gear. Any missing items can be rented on this day.
Day 2: Hike from Mweka Gate to Mweka Camp
After breakfast, you will begin your descent through the lush, verdant rainforest. Along the way, keep an eye out for the diverse flora and fauna, including towering Eucalyptus trees, colorful birds, and the elusive Colobus monkeys. Your first day’s destination is Mweka Camp, where you will settle in for the night.
Day 3: Hike from Mweka Camp to Barranco Camp
Today, you will continue your descent, passing through a variety of landscapes, including heathland and alpine desert. The views of the surrounding peaks and the vast expanse of the Kilimanjaro massif are truly awe-inspiring. Your destination for the day is Barranco Camp, where you will have the opportunity to rest and recharge for the next day’s hike.
Day 4: Hike from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Your trek continues as you descend to Karanga Camp, passing through more alpine desert terrain. The views of the surrounding peaks and the vast expanse of the Kilimanjaro massif are truly awe-inspiring. This day’s hike will prepare you for the final push to the summit.
Day 5: Hike from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Today, you will continue your descent, passing through more alpine desert terrain. The views of the surrounding peaks and the vast expanse of the Kilimanjaro massif are truly awe-inspiring. Your destination for the day is Barafu Camp, where you will have the opportunity to rest and recharge for the next day’s hike.
Day 6: Summit Day – Hike from Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and Descend to Mweka Camp
The big day has arrived! In the early hours of the morning, you will begin your ascent to the summit of Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak. The climb is challenging, but the sense of accomplishment and the breathtaking views from the top will make it all worthwhile. After taking in the stunning panorama, you will begin your descent, stopping for a rest at Barafu Camp before continuing on to Mweka Camp.
Day 7: Hike from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Depart
On your final day, you will descend through the lush forest to the Mweka Gate, where a vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi. The descent can be wet and muddy, so be sure to have your gaiters and trekking poles handy. Once back at the hotel, you can relax, celebrate your achievement, and reflect on your incredible Kilimanjaro adventure.
